Even a cup of this drink a day will lower your risk of heart disease
Studies have shown that even a cup of tea everyday may be good for human heart according to a research work published online January 9, 2020 by the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
The research work included data from over 10,000 Chinese adults who participated in the long term health research work. The study participants provided their health and behavioural data, which include how much tea they take. The follow-up study lasted for the period of seven years.
The researchers compared two groups of participants in the study, those who drank fewer than three cups of tea a week and those who take at least a cup of tea everyday.
The results of the study clearly showed that the people that drank more tea had a 20% lower risk of a heart attack or other related heart problems. They also had a 22% lower risk for dying of heart disease.
The results of the research don’t completely prove that intakes of tea was the reason for those benefits. However, the fact remains that green and black tea are rich in plant chemicals named flavonoids, which helps reduce inflammation, one of the causes of heart disease.
High intake of tea has also been linked to lower cholesterol as well as enhanced blood vessel functions.
